Sallie Dean Shatz is a photojournalist. Her role as Director of Photography for the 2012 Doha UN Climate Change Conference in Qatar was pivotal in shifting her lens from humans to their impact.
Her work has been published in the New York Times, Harper’s Magazine, Index on Censorship, Middle East Report, Columbia Journalism Review, High Country News, Sierra, Democracy Now, Sports Illustrated, Patagonia, Black Diamond, TrailRunner, Rock and Ice, and Climbing.
Major exhibitions include a solo exhibit sponsored by UNESCO and Amnesty International in Beirut, a traveling exhibit curated by AL-LIQUINDOI, and a solo exhibit on Capitol Hill.
Deeply invested in community-building, Sallie has served on Mountain Rescue Aspen since 1992 (all but seven years), and the Executive Committee of the Advisory Board at UtahPresents.
